As I was watching this years King of The Hammers replay of the UTV race live feed, I heard a comment about being able to just go buy a UTV add a couple items and be ready to race. Well I just want people to understand that there is much much more to that when it comes to a well prepared Ultra 4 KOH UTV. To run at the upper echelon of this now heavily stacked class, the ENTIRE machine needs to be as bulletproof as possible. While there are thousands of ways to build your rig, these are the components and companies we work with to build ours. Like to introduce everyone to the BRAND NEW 305/65/17 MRT - Motoracetire.com. I only have about 50 miles on them but going to try to find some Texas trails to test them out on this weekend. I can tell already that they are going to grip the rocks like a fat kid with candy in his hands.
Thank you Mark for making a badass tire. #lifeoflipps #mrt #tina #rockrunner #xroxDD #2uzswapped #letsgoplaces #imisscaliforniamountains ... See MoreSee Less

KOH RECAP. Well we thrashed to get the RZR together last minute as usual. Loaded it in the trailer. Fought electrical issues on the Toterhome all the way across the Country. Then our trailer tongue broke in half. But we got it welded up and made it to Hammertown on Sunday. Got setup and finished the wiring on the RZR. Then spent the next few days working on it to pass tech. Passed tech and pre ran half of the first lap. Me and Byron Smith got comfortable flying through the desert and the PAC Racing Springs and swaybar were a great improvement. but The front stock shocks felt horrible after a few Miles. while the rears felt ok. They quickly faded and the front end bottomed out a lot. Lucky for us we stopped by ADS Racing Shocks and they got our front shocks fixed up the night before the race. The next morning we weren’t sure if we would make it back to main pit on one tank of fuel so we sent pops out to pit 1 with 10 gallons of fuel in the rental car. 😂 me and Byron climbed in and prepared to battle the desert all day. We left the starting line and got out in front of the car we started against. Then for the first 30 Miles there were RZRs scattered everywhere. We passed thru the pit and pops was out there cheering us on and waving us through. We passed a few more cars in the notches that took bad lines and made our way back towards pit 1. About 5 Miles before the pit we passed a broken down RZR and they pointed at our front end when we came by. I looked over and Byron and said “that can’t be good” but we kept pressing on with the front end feeling wonky. Turns out our tierods had loosened up and our tires we’re fighting each other. We came into the pit and pops was there ready with fuel. We hopped out and the pit crew next to us came running over to help. They had us back in the RZR and on our way in minutes. Can’t thank those guys enough! We worked our way up from 110th to 55th before a upper radius rod bolt came out on resolution. We stopped and replaced it with a spare and continued down Backdoor and into Hammertown. Passed the start/finish line and were about to wind the last turn to leave the short course when we heard a grinding noise from the rear. I hit the brakes and they were spungey. Got out and found the rear wheel bearing had destroyed itself. We had a spare bearing so we took the hub off and we ran into the pits to repair. About an hour of sledge hammering and chiseling with the guys over at Skys Off Road Design we had it swapped out. But it was 1:20. 20 minutes passed the time we could leave out on lap 2 so we decided to call it a day. Our KMC Wheels and MRT - Motoracetire.com Tires took a beating all day as well as our Gilbert Designs and Landw fab suspension. The RCV Performance Products driveshaft and ball joints were flawless. Big Thanks to Ricky Berry for swapping out a boot on Our Turner Cycles axle the night before. We New we didn’t have to worry about these axles breaking 💪 or our DC Motorsports LLC front diff. RVS Performance set us up with a clutch package that made these 32s feel like 30s. Sadly we didn’t get to use our Superwinch but we did use the crap out of our Super ATV skid plate. All in all we had a blast. And we will be back! We might have only made it one Lap but we sounding good thanks to Evolution Powersports blowoff/chargetube and that Gibson Performance Exhaust. Byron killed it as a codriver using CartoTracks. this was our 8th year coming to koh and the perfect time to take on a new challenge. Racing koh is like being in a 6 hour car wreck. Lucky for us PRP Seats and harnesses as well as some safety gear from Jake Burkey RIOT Buggy made it a much more comfortable one. Atleast my arms weren’t tired thanks to that EPowerSteering. We can’t thank everyone involved enough for the opportunity to do this type of racing. Now it’s time to head home and get ready to do some east coast racing! ... See MoreSee Less
The strength and persistance was certainly put to the test for this years King of The Hammers. Got to the lakebed Thursday and headed out for the first prerun in the 1000. Jumped into the Turbo that night for a shakedown and found the car to be working well. Continued to get seat time and prerunning in before Saturdays qualifying. Had 1 hiccup at the bottom of the first climb, but the rest of the run was real strong. Qualified 37th out of over 120 entries in this years huge class. Later that afternoon we shattered the transmission internals shock tuning. With the help of the Cash LeCroy team we were back together the night before the race. We left the line charging hard passing many already broke machines heading out in lap 1. We passed many cars on course as we hammered through Cougar buttes. We were right on our game plan racing towards the front when we hit a rock breaking our left rear wheel. When we got out to change the tire, we found the rear trans mount bolts sheared off and major damage to the case ending our race. Certainly not the results we were looking for. We couldn't even attempt entering such a race without the incredible support from our sponsors. We want to thankbthese great companies that help make this happen.
